Explanation cartoon
In this 1 minute, 42 second explainer cartoon, a first year college student needs to ask for accommodations, which is new for him since he didn’t have to do this in high school. He uses Smart Steps Mobile to give him ideas to contact each professor and the testing center. It helped make his college experience less stressful because he had just the right amount of support when he needed it. He gained confidence handling things on his own, and his mom had peace of mind seeing this growth.
Testimonials
“As an advocate in special education, disability, and neuro-inclusivity, I am excited about the Smart Steps Mobile App. It provides the type of non-judgmental guidance and support that individuals need when navigating challenging situations. It can also be used to teach decision-making skills, which is essential for success. I love that customizable decision trees are available to work through specific situations. I believe the Smart Steps Mobile App is a valuable tool for anyone who needs a little extra support for navigating life’s challenges.”

Using Smart Steps Decision Trees to Sequence Events: “One of the features of the Smart Steps Mobile App we find valuable is its flexibility. Our son is a 34 year-old quadriplegic with CP, autism and mild cognitive impairment. He also has significant speech delays. His challenge is performing activities of daily living that require multiple steps. These challenges may not suggest he would benefit from Smart Steps App. But by using “Decision Trees” creatively as a “Task Sequencing” tool he can quickly reference the Smart Steps App to remind him of the steps necessary to complete a specific task and the best order to perform them. He can also call for help when it is necessary. Smart Steps provides him with a great way to learn how to become more independent… while providing him the means to reach out for help when necessary! Thank you, Smart Steps!”
